"To Whom it may concern: This hand stamp was found by me, Jay "R" Thornton..at Eberhardt Nev. July 8, 1988 at what appeared to be the assay office beneath the remains of the Stanford Mill. The stamp reads S.M. Co. & was most likely used to stamp silver bars which were produced there.
